Dave sent us this great install that shows off a few nice techniques for installing standard home organization products in a log home.

Dave first attached furring strips to span the uneven round logs. In this case he is using 2x4's. Notice how he has added a shim to one of the studs. It is important for outside edge of the furring to be plum. Together, the strips should also create a new flat and square surface for the cabinets to be attached.

Once the furring strips were fully secured, the cabinets were hung as if they were attached to a standard studded wall. Dave is using some pretty large cabinets here, so it was vital that he fully secured them to a solid foundation.

Dave took it to the extreme by adding a custom rear filler panel that follows the uneven logs and creates a clean custom look. This panel is actually an additional add-on panel laminated to match the white cabinets and then attached to the side of the two end cabinets. It is a cool way to make a standard manufactured cabinet look like it was custom made for your log home.

Dave added Flowwall Panels to one cabinet. He used the maple finished panels to match the natural look of the log home. Dave shows here how Flowwall panels and storage accessories can transform an ordinary cabinet into a custom ski storage cabinet. Now this customer can lock up their neatly organized winter sporting goods.
