Getting Organized in North Carolina

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Here is another great garage just completed by one of our great customers in North Carolina.  This is a great example of both inside and outside storage.  Inside being the use of Flow Wall Cabinets to put away your stuff.  The outside storage is the ability to hang those items that you need to be able to get to quick and easy, yet stay organized.

With the cabinets off the floor cleaning underneath will be a breeze.  The customer hired a local contractor to do the installation and it took just under a day.  What a great finished installation.

The Wife is Right

Thursday, June 16th, 2011

A few months ago my wife looked at me and said as kindly as she could, ” you have a problem.”  My first reaction was this is news to me.  However after she walked me into our laundry room and showed me all the change I had left in my pocket I didn’t have much room to argue.  Thankfully Flow Wall came to my rescue, who knew that one little plastic bin could do so much.  Now instead of clanging around in my dryer I have a nice little coin collection going on.  Looks like I need to take the Mrs. out for ice cream and a movie and tell her that once again she was right.

Any guesses on how much I have?  The person that gets the closest wins a free set of these bins!

Flow Wall into Concrete Walls

Monday, September 27th, 2010

Can Flow Wall Panels be installed into a Concrete Wall?

The answer is yes with just changing one thing on your part, the screws.  By picking up a concrete screw at your local hardware store you can easily install the panels into concrete.  Look for a screw with a hex head, this will lessen your chances of stripping the screw head as you go into the concrete.

Often these screws only come in the color blue.  For this pick up a small can of paint that you can paint the screw head when you are done installing the panel.  By making these small changes you are ready to install Flow Wall into any concrete wall.

Garage Gym

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Finding space in your home to work out can be challenging.  Where do you put all the equipment and still have room to move and get the workout you are looking for.  A great space to look at is that messy garage!  You know that space we all throw things into and shut the door hoping it will disappear.  Sure it will take a little bit of work, most of it organizing your space.  However once your are done you will have a great functional, organized, state of the art gym.  Follow these few steps to begin your path to an organized and fit life!

1- Get down and dirty.  We all have a space in our life that becomes the dumping grounds most often this is our garage.  Well on this mission we are going to take it back.   All this requires is some good old fashion work.   Be sure to take a before picture, you will be amazed at what you have accomplished!

2- Plan out you space.  Look at what areas of the space will work best for what you want to get done with it.  Remember not only are you organize your things you are also maximizing your space.  To work out you need plenty of room.  The goal is to optimize your space.

3-decide what you are going to keep and the rest get rid of anyway possible.  Have a garage sale, donate it, give it to your neighbors do what ever you need to take back the space.  Once you do you can then focus on taking back the rest of your life by sweating it out on in your new gym!

Pegboard vs. Slatwall

Monday, July 5th, 2010

Submitted by: Tim B.

Location: Naperville, Illinois

My garage is a hodgepodge of pegboard, wall cabinets, self made shelving and screw in hooks. I have never really liked the pegbord for many reasons.

  • It has warped over time and looks terrible.
  • The hooks never stay in place.
  • It doesn’t hold much weight.

Because of these things, I just stopped using all of this wall space for storage in my garage. It has just stayed there unused and looking bad for the last few years. I ran across Flowwall a couple weeks ago and thought I would give it a go. Today was the the 4th, so I decided to take down that old pegboard and UPGRADE!

I ordered a panel pack and some random hooks.  Nothing too crazy to start. The wall panel went up really easily. I struck a level line and marked my stud locations. The first panel took the longest to go up because of this prep work. Once the first one was up, the remaining 5 went up very quickly. All in all the install took only 30 minutes. I loved the screw locating channels and how the screws just recess perfectly into the plastic. Really cool! Adding the end caps really gave it a finished look. This looks A LOT BETTER than that old pegboard.

The real fun began after the wall panel was up. I ordered a box of 4 inch and 8 inch hooks as well as a couple wide mouth hooks and a ladder hook. It took another 15 to 20 minutes to get it looking sweet! Now, the hooks don’t fall off if I breath on them the wrong way and the wall will never warp! My wife came out and gave me a big high five! She actually told me to order more!  I said, OK! I took the next 10 minutes to sit back and admire my new wall with my son. I can’t wait to add on!
